The Chargé d'Affaires ad interim at the Syrian embassy presented initiatives in support of the bilateral cooperation



Muhammad Muhammad, Chargé d'Affaires ad interim at the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Syria in Bulgaria, talked with BCCI’s President Tsvetan Simeonov. The meeting was attended by Rana Issa and Ali Makin - respectively attaché and counselor at the embassy.

Muhammad Muhammad informed about the state-of-the-art and the development of the Syrian economy and the bilateral economic relations. It was agreed that in 2022, in a convenient period for the two countries, the team of the embassy and BCCI should organize a business forum in order to present the benefits of doing business with Syria, before the Bulgarian entrepreneurs.

The Syrian diplomats presented the upcoming international exhibition "Rebuild Syria 2022". The Syrian Investment Agency provides full support to foreign companies, including Bulgarian ones, with the intention to invest in Syria.

BCCI has maintained partnership relations with the Damascus Chamber of Commerce and Industry since 1996, on the basis of the signed Cooperation Agreement.

According to the Ministry of Economy, in 2020 the worth of the Bulgarian-Syrian mutual trade is 4.4 million USD, which states for a decrease of about 86% compared to the same period last year. Bulgarian exports to Syria reached 3.9 million USD, and imports amounted to 0.5 million USD. The balance remains positive for our country.
