GS1 Bulgaria participates in GS1 in Europe Regional Forum in Budapest

The rigorous GS1 standards are introduced in the bank sector


 
Implementation of the GS1 Databar family of barcode symbols, mobile phone applications and cooperation between sectors for the identification of consumer product goods will be discussed at the GS1 in Europe Regional Forum, which is about to take place in Hungary. 46 national GS1 organizations out of 108 GS1 organizations worldwide are members of the GS1 in Europe Council. The Bulgarian delegation is led by the Chairman of the GS1 Bulgaria Board and President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov and includes Ms. Nadezhda Pancheva – member of the GS1 Bulgaria Board, Mr. Hristo Sodev – CEO of GS1 Bulgaria and Mr. Lubomir Gaidarov – GS1 Bulgaria expert. 

Parallel to the Regional Forum, a meeting of the Regional Board of GS1 Europe will take place. The Bulgarian side will be represented by Mr. Hristo Sodev, CEO. The Regional Board comprises the CEOs of national GS1 organizations in Europe. 

Key topics to be discussed by the Regional Council include progress on harmonization of mobile communications infrastructure globally, and more specifically the use of mobile communications in trade. The focus is put on the development and implementation of GS1 standards in the bank sector for cash services, which is of direct interest to national central banks and commercial banks. Issues concerning the status of electronic invoicing in Europe will also be raised. The direct business-to-customer relation (B2C) is once again among the main accents of the GS1 policy. Food traceability in store chains will be reviewed with the participation of representatives of leading brands - Ghislain Esquerre (Carrefour) and Jochen Rackebrandt  (Kraftfoods), and current information will be presented by ECR (Efficient Consumer Response organization). 

The President and CEO of GS1 Miguel Lopera will present a special GS1 activity report and update.
