Bulgarian-Iraqi business conference for promoting bilateral commercial opportunities







The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Baghdad Chamber of Commerce united this Wednesday, 16th of June, to set out their positions regarding the bilateral economic relations. The forum aimed to present up-to-date information on economic relations between the two countries, as well as to target sectors with potential in mutual trade and investment.

The presidents of both Chambers wanted to emphasize their thankfulness for this opportunity. The president of the BCCI, Tsvetan Simeonov, and the president of Baghdad Chamber of Commerce Firas Rasool Jaafar Al-Hamdani, showed their willingness to pursue the commercial efforts from "historically good relations" between both countries. 

They have agreed to exchange business delegations, once the travel restrictions are reduced in order to demonstrate engagement to the highlighted objectives of the forum.

The conference was honored by the Iraqi Ambassador to Bulgaria, H.E. Lina Jalal Omar, and the Bulgarian Ambassador to Iraq, Valentin Nikolov. Ambassador Nikolov expressed the need for developing "business to business" contacts to increase trade movement between the two countries, especially in the food, energy, machinery, pharmaceutical electronics fields.

Bulgarian and Iraqi company representatives attending the conference exchanged contacts and received information about the current economic and investment climate in both countries.

The event was realized with the kind assistance of the Embassy of Bulgaria in Baghdad and the Embassy of Iraq in Sofia.
