H.E. Lukaš Kaucký, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic in Bulgaria met with the President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov. Petr Vávra, Minister-Counsellor for Political Affairs at the Embassy also took part in the meeting.
Tsvetan Simeonov and his guests discussed the current state of the bilateral commercial and economic relations. The President of BCCI acquainted the diplomats with the Chamber’s cooperation with similar international organizations and with the work of the Unified Trade Register and the Arbitration Court at the Chamber.
BCCI and the Czech Chamber of Commerce signed a cooperation agreement in 2004 and have long-standing partnership both at European and national level. During the meeting it was agreed that the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Bulgaria will unite their efforts to fully utilize the potential for economic cooperation between the two countries.
The Czech Republic is among the ten largest direct investors in Bulgaria in sectors such as energy, telecommunications, mechanical engineering and transport. In recent years, there has been a steady increase in bilateral trade, which reached the record EUR 1 369 million in 2018, up from EUR 543 million in 2007.
