Meeting with the newly-appointed Ambassador of Cuba in Bulgaria – H.E. Mrs. Caridad Yamira Cueto Milián

To discuss initiatives to boost interest in trade and investment between the two countries


The newly appointed Ambassador of Cuba in Bulgaria H.E. Mrs. Caridad Yamira Cueto Milián visited BCCI and met with the Chamber’s President Tsvetan Simeonov. The diplomat has been in Bulgaria for 4 weeks and has previous experience in the USA, Slovakia, Denmark, etc.

Ambassador Milian submitted a message from the management of the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba, with which BCCI has a long-term partnership, stating their desire to continue the cooperation. The general view was expressed about the need to increase bilateral trade, investment and overall economic cooperation, subject to a pragmatic approach. Tsvetan Simeonov confirmed the willingness of Bulgarian companies to offer cooperation in the following areas: agriculture, food industry, biotechnology, construction, hydropower, pharmaceuticals, etc.

It was agreed to organize a series of events to boost the interest of both sides in trade and investment. The first event will be held in April – a presentation of the economic and investment climate in Cuba. BCCI will host the event and will invite Bulgarian entrepreneurs to take part in it. Examples of successful practices from Bulgarian companies that trade with Cuba will also be shared.

The Ambassador informed that Cuba wants to expand the cooperation in the field of tourism by attracting Bulgarian tourists to visit the Caribbean with cruise ships. According to the statistics of the Cuban state, in 2018 the number of Bulgarian tourists who visited the country was over 8000, registering a growth over the previous year.
