The newly appointed Consul General of Bulgaria in Los Angeles, USA Veselin Valchev visited BCCI and met with the Chamber’s President Tsvetan Simeonov.
Opportunities for expanding the bilateral trade and economic relations after the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce in July were discussed.
Tsvetan Simeonov emphasized the need to work more actively towards lifting the visa requirements of the US for Bulgarians and described the existing measure as a non-tariff restriction. This would enhance the effect of the upcoming signing of the TTIP between Europe and the US.
Regarding the closing of the Commercial and Economic Section of Bulgaria in Los Angeles, the President of BCCI expressed hope that this is a temporary action and that efforts will be made to preserve and further develop the trade potential between Bulgaria and the US.
Veselin Valchev said that despite the large consular district covering the territory of the states of Alaska, Arizona, California, Idaho, Hawaii, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington, he will do his best to support the trade and economic cooperation between Bulgaria and the US.
BCCI expressed readiness to fully assist his efforts in support of companies from the two countries.
