General Session of the Association of the Balkan Chambers
The second annual General Session of the Association of the Balkan Chambers took place in Podgorica, Montenegro. Representatives of the chambers of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Greece, Cyprus, Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey and Montenegro attended the meeting. The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry was represented by Secretary General Vassil Todorov.
Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro Vujica Lazovic described the government policy in terms of the digitization, the provision of electronic services and the development of the electronic commerce.
The discussion was focused on the Southeast Europe 2020 Strategy which aims to strengthen the economies of these countries and help their accession to the EU. The activities of G20 in global economic development were also reviewed as well as the role of the Chambers in the process.
At the end of the meeting the rotating presidency to the Association of the Balkan Chambers for the year of 2014 was officially handed over to the Chair of the Association of the Greek Chambers, Mr. Konstantinos Mihalos.
After the session the delegation of representatives of the Balkan Chambers was received by the Prime Minister of Montenegro, Mr. Milo Djukanovic. The importance of the good collaboration, built by the Chambers in the region within ABC, was outlined. Milo Djukanovic emphasized the importance of the policy for the expansion of the EU towards the Western Balkans, which is motivating for the candidate countries to develop their economies in order to reach the high criteria for joining the Union.
