Social dialogue in the air traffic management sector is within the scope of a new project on which the BCCI has started work

Project “TRANSFER - transforming the air traffic management sector into a successful example of shared social dialogue practices” includes 9 partners from 5 European countries. The Federation of Transport Workers at the Confederation of Labour Union „Podkrepa“ from Bulgaria also participates in it.

The project was launched during an online meeting, in which representatives of the partner organizations from Italy, Poland, Bulgaria, Romania and Montenegro participated.

The lead partner – the Autonomous Federation of Transport Unions in Italy presented the main objectives of the project:

- To transfer good practices for social dialogue, developed so far in the air traffic management sector /ATM/, to the other subsectors of civil aviation, i.e. aircraft crews and ground handling. To define at national level the challenges and opportunities for improvement related to the social dialogue implemented in these sectors.

- To facilitate transnational and European exchange of experiences and practices between the social partners of the civil aviation sector, with the aim of collecting and developing recommendations for the European Sectoral Social Dialogue Committee (ESSDC) dedicated to civil aviation.

TRANSFER has a three-fold strategy:

A). Capacity building focused on best practices in social dialogue in the field of ATM and assessment of challenges related to social dialogue in the field of air and ground handling in individual countries.

B). Development of recommendations for improving social dialogue at EU and national level in civil aviation, based on international consultation and preparation of a specialized publication.

C). Consultation of the social partners at EU level participating in the European Sectoral Social Dialogue Committee, making recommendations and participation of the national social partners related to the transport sector in a capacity building session.

TRANSFER covers:

- trade unions and employers' organisations;

- support and commitment from the social partners at EU level;

- work on issues, topics and priorities identified within the framework of the social dialogue at EU level;

- contribution to the work of the Civil Aviation Committee;

- improving the capacity of the social partners to achieve effective results from the social dialogue in civil aviation.

The project will last 2 years. It is co-financed by the European Union. Stay tuned for more information on specific initiatives under the TRANSFER project.
