Trade between Bulgaria and Indonesia needs stimulation
The new Minister Counsellor and Charge d’Affaires at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Sofia, Pranowo Prawirokusumo visited BCCI on 12 October 2011 and met with its President Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov. Mr. Simeonov presented the current economic environment in Bulgaria and outlined the advantages our county provides for doing business. It was noted that trade between Bulgaria and Indonesia needs to be stimulated and encouraged. According to BCCI’s President advantage should be taken of the fact that products manufactured in the two countries are very different and the two economies practically complement each other, rather than competing.
The guest explained that Indonesia is among the fastest developing economies in Asia with growth of 6.1% in 2010. The country has population of 240 million people and offers a huge market for Bulgarian products. Besides, in 2015 the free trade area of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations /ASEAN/ will come into force. Thus, Indonesia may become an entry for Bulgarian products to the entire region.
Mr. Prawirokusumo informed that in November this year, Indonesian businessmen with interests in tourism and hotel-management will visit Bulgaria. In December a visit of traveling journalists from the Asian country is expected. They will take photographs of Bulgarian tourist attractions on their way to Western Europe. BCCI’s President confirmed the Chamber’s readiness to provide assistance for the organization of the two events and the preparation of meetings with the Bulgarian business community.
