Establishing a Council on Innovation with the BCCI



 
When: 11 May 2011, 10:30 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Where: BCCI’s Headquarters, 9 Iskar Str., Hall A
What: Constituent Assembly of the Council on Innovation with the BCCI, during which a cooperation agreement will be signed between the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Bulgarian Academy of Science. First steps towards establishing an Innovation Exchange. 
Additional information: The Council will assist the implementation of innovative products and services in the economy of the country and will provide the link between the private sector, the scientific institutes, universities and competent state bodies, and via the BCCI will:
o Develop and present to the competent state authorities, including the working group with the Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism drawing up the Innovation Draft Bill, position-papers on legislative acts and other documents referring to the accelerated implementation of innovative products and services in order to increase the competitiveness of Bulgarian economy.
o Participate with its representatives in the work of various state-public bodies;
o Discuss strategies and programmes in the field of innovation;
o Participate in EU projects and programmes, projects and programmes of other international and national donors, and as a priority in the JEREMIE initiative. 
o Conduct research on the principles, tendencies and good practices in implementing innovative products and services;
o Prepare analyses about the problems regarding the interaction between the creators of scientific innovative products and the business in the country and will propose specific solutions to these problems;
o Organise via the BCCI meetings, discussions and round tables to discuss current issues;
o Organise via the BCCI trainings and seminars;
o Consult the members of the Council and the BCCI on their participation in programmes and projects;
o Represent the members of the Councils before banks, donor funds and organizations and other state bodies. 
Preliminary Programme:
10:30 – 10:45   Opening of the Constituent Assembly by BCCI’s President
10:45 – 11:45  Discussing and adopting “Rules for the Structure and Activity of the Council” and “Work Programme for 2011”.
11:45 – 12:15   Choosing governing bodies of the Council.
12:15 – 13:00   Informal talks over a glass of wine.
Note: Depending on how long the meeting of the Government takes, Minister Traycho Traykov is expected to join the Constituent Assembly at about 12 o’clock.
