Promoting the synergy between the countries of Southeast Europe and the Black Sea Region – in focus of a Forum held at the BCCI

The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted a conference entitled “Internationalization of the economy of Central and Eastern Europe and the Black Sea Region through implementation of the CEFTA Agreement” on 15th May 2014. This conference was the largest event organized within the rotating presidency of the BCCI to the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Business Council (BSEC) for the first half of 2014.

The Forum was attended by representatives from the chambers of commerce and industry of the CEFTA countries, representatives from the countries of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, Bulgarian companies, branch organisations and business associations, representatives of the government and the academia.

BCCI has long been an advocate of the idea that this region should turn into a free trade zone, stated the President of the Chamber Tsvetan Simeonov during the opening of the forum. The Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA) is a good platform for the countries that are about to join the EU, and I am optimistic that they will come better prepared. I can see that smaller countries are more active and persistent, so they are going to make the European environment friendlier and will contribute to the influx of investments, said the BCCI President Tsvetan Simeonov at the opening of the conference.

The participants in the forum shared their opinions on promoting the synergy between the countries of Southeast Europe and the Black Sea Region, and on targeting the interests of the SMEs into the global trade.  The Conference focused on sectors, such as transport and logistics, infrastructure, ICT, water and energy security, machinery and building facilities.
