Two-day visit of the Management of the BCCI in Edirne









The President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov, members of the Executive Council of the Chamber, and Chairs of some Regional Chambers from Bulgaria were on a two-day visit in Edirne, Turkey. During the visit they met with local officials and took part in the International Economic Forum organized by the Edirne Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The economy and trade of the city and the region were presented at the forum; the tourist capacity of European Turkey was also in the focus of the event. 
The forum was attended by the Mayor and the Regional Governor of Edirne, the Regional Governor of East Macedonia – Thrace of Greece, representatives of the Union of Turkish Chambers of Commerce and Industry, companies from Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey, and Regional Governors from Bulgaria.
Cengiz Gunay, member of the Board of the Union of Turkish Chambers of Commerce and Industry, noted the importance of the event underlining that Turkey continues investing in the development of the neighbourly relations with Bulgaria and Greece. Three shared border checkpoints have been renovated and modernized for the easier transition of people and goods.
“The three countries are not only good neighbours, but also excellent trade partners”, said the President of the BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov and expressed willingness on behalf of the Chamber to support joint business initiatives and foster the work on joint projects under European cross-border cooperation programmes.
The bipartite and tripartite economic cooperation between Bulgaria, Greece and Turkey was discussed during the meetings, including issues related to facilitating businesses and visa proceedings, as well as reducing the administrative pressure on companies.
