BCCI with representatives in the government delegation in connection with the process of Bulgaria's accession to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD)







The meeting was in connection with the review of Bulgaria's position under the OECD Codes on the liberalization of capital movements and on current invisible operations. The acceptance of Bulgaria's position and the reservations regarding some of the provisions of the Codes is extremely important for the continuation of the procedures for accepting Bulgaria as a member of the OECD - the club of rich countries with an important role and functions in the world economy.

The meeting was extremely fruitful and Bulgaria's presentation was highly appreciated by its participants - the OECD Secretariat, the Representative of the European Commission and the Representatives of the 38 OECD member states. The Bulgarian delegation included the heads of all ministries to which there were questions from the OECD - the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Economy, the Commission for Financial Supervision, the BNB, the Supreme Bar Council and other structures of the state administration.

The delegation also included two experts related to the BCCI:

Lawyer Todor Tabakov - deputy. chairman of the BCCI, member of the Management and Executive Council of the BCCI, specialist in financial and tax matters. His experience in previous positions in the OECD was useful both in the preparation of Bulgaria's position on the Liberalization Codes and in the negotiation process with the organization.

Dr. Ivaylo Dermendzhiev - Chairman of the High Bar Council (HBA), and deputy. Chairman of the Court of Arbitration at the BCCI. Dermendzhiev is a doctor of international law, a specialist in the field of international commercial arbitration, a member of the London Arbitration and the International Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne.

The Chairman of the Supreme Bar Council of Republic of Bulgaria Dermendzhiev expressed his satisfaction with the good communication and understanding with the executive power on the topics related to the liberalization of the liberal professions and expressed the desire of the Bulgarian bar to assist in solving the problems related to the upcoming actions on the adaptation of the Bulgarian legislation to the Liberalization Conventions , expressing confidence that the procedure for Bulgaria's admission to the OECD will be completed successfully.
