The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry took part in the first meeting of the Association of Balkan Chambers (ABC) for 2022, chaired by the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The Secretary General of BCCI Vasil Todorov discussed with partners from the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cyprus, the Republic of North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia and Montenegro highlights from the national recovery and resilience plans.
Vasil Todorov presented the main goal and the respective means of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan of Bulgaria, which should contribute to the economic and social recovery from the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The envisaged set of measures and reforms will contribute to restoring the potential for economic growth, will ensure the resilience to negative external influences. The Secretary General of BCCI specified that the plan lays the foundations for green and digital transformation of the economy, in the context of the ambitious goals of the Green Deal.
The meeting also focused on the effects of rising inflation and high fuel prices on the economies of the Balkan countries, combined with relevant measures implemented in the different countries to tackle current problems.
Theodosis Tsiolas, Permanent Secretary of the Directorate General for Growth of the European Commission and representative of the Ministry of Finance of Cyprus, was a special guest at the meeting, held in electronic format. He pointed out that the strength and sustainability of the economies of European countries and their neighboring countries depends on the sustainability of business.
The hosts of the meeting from the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry are preparing a series of bilateral and multilateral events, part of which was the Bulgarian-Cypriot business meeting held in early May.
