Meeting with the Leader of the European Investment Bank in Bulgaria

Andreas Beikos, head of the office of the European Investment Bank (EIB) in Bulgaria, visited BCCI and held a meeting with the President Tsvetan Simeonov. The purpose of the conversation was to discuss the possibilities for cooperation between the two institutions.

Andreas Beikos presented the Bank's activities. He focused on the three strands where the EIB provides services – lending (bank credit), mixed financing and advisory services. In his words, the EIB, through the European Investment Fund (EIF), provides financing to small and medium-sized enterprises through venture capital and risk finance instruments.

Andreas Beikos presented information about several important projects that the bank institution finances in Bulgaria. Among them are the third subway line in Sofia, the Struma highway, the interconnecting gas connection with Greece and others.

About 90% of the bank's funding is directed to EU member states, and the remaining 10% is directed to different regions - the Western Balkans, Africa, Asia. More information HERE.

Tsvetan Simeonov presented the activity of BCCI, emphasizing on the work of the Arbitration Court, the Investment Council and the Council for Innovations. He also drew attention to the fact that the Bank’s activity for financing projects is very important for BCCI which will lead to the improvement of the business environment in Bulgaria. At the end of the meeting, possible joint initiatives aimed at acquainting the business with the Bank's services were discussed.
