Economic partnership with Canada was discussed at a forum in Plovdiv

In the context of the EU - Canada Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement

During a roundtable in Plovdiv, the business discussed the trade and economic relations between Bulgaria and Canada and the benefits of the activation of the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) between the EU and Canada.
The event was officially opened by the mayor of Plovdiv Ivan Totev and the ambassador of Canada HE. Kevin Hamilton at the “Boris Hristov” House of Culture. The round table is organized by the Canadian-Bulgarian business network, the Embassy of Canada, accredited for Bulgaria, the National Business Network and with the cooperation of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Representatives of the state institutions, a team of the Canadian Embassy, the Plovdiv Municipality, economists, business representatives from various sectors and other interested parties took part in the regional round table. The purpose of the event was not only to present the new reliefs on export in Canada of goods produced in Europe, but also to encourage the Bulgarian entrepreneurs to look for new markets across the ocean by providing them specific and useful information.
„The entry into force of the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement between the European Union and Canada is of great importance to the Bulgarian manufacturers and especially to small and medium-sized businesses because it opens doors for them on a huge market, including the Canadian public procurement market at central and local level“, said Alex Nestor, vice president of the Canadian-Bulgarian business network.
The Canadian Embassy, accredited for Bulgaria, considers conducting such regional events in 2019 also in the cities of Stara Zagora, Varna, Burgas and Ruse. The BCCI will further inform about the date and program of events.
