Moldova Wishes to Establish Closer Relations with Bulgaria

Mass privatization of public companies begins in the country

On July 6th, 2011 the Ambassador of Moldova in Sofia, H.E. Mr. Aleksandru Prigorski visited BCCI and met with the President of the Chamber, Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov.
Mr. Simeonov introduced the Ambassador to the activity of the Chamber and noted that BCCI should renew the active contacts with its Moldovan partners, which in the past few years were put to a halt as both countries had focused on the European Union.
He outlined the advantages of Moldova as a good business partner – the country borders on the EU, trades with it freely under 7200 stock positions and has free access to the market of the former Soviet Republics. The country has 9 free economic zones which offer very favourable conditions for the production of goods and guarantee their realization on the local or international market afterwards. He gave examples with a German company, which produces automobile parts in Moldova and Italian company manufacturing furniture for the Russian market, etc. He invited Bulgarian companies to make use of the opportunities provided by these zones.
The Ambassador of Moldova explained that a lot of Moldovan companies are about to be privatized. Several energy projects are expected to be developed – mainly for the renovation of power lines and the construction of a gas pipeline, which will serve as an alternative transmission network.
Mr. Simeonov proposed a presentation on the new developments of Moldovan economy to be organized for Bulgarian companies by BCCI with regard to the active economic changes which will take place in the country. The two parties agreed that the presentation will take place in the second half of September 2011.
More information about Moldovan economy is available at www.miepo.md and in BCCI’s Library.
