Significant growth of products traded between Bulgaria and Iran in the first half of 2017

The newly appointed economic advisor to the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Sofia - Ali Akbar Rezai had a meeting with the President of the Chamber

The state of bilateral economic relations between Bulgaria and Iran was discussed and Ali Rezai noted that trade between the two countries marked a significant increase in the first half of 2017.

The opportunities for developing the existing potential in the trade and economic relations were discussed, with emphasis being placed on the upcoming business delegation to Tehran in the autumn of 2017, organized by BCCI, in cooperation with the Iranian Embassy in Sofia.

Mr. Rezai announced that the Embassy has a strategy to connect different regions from Bulgaria and Iran, stressing that by the end of the year Iranian delegations are expected to visit Pazardzhik and Varna. The BCCI will further provide information on the forthcoming initiatives.

According to the Ministry of Economy of Bulgaria, the main goods in the Bulgarian exports to Iran for 2016 are: tobacco products, rapeseed and sunflower seeds, passenger cars and tractors, medicines. Among the main goods imported from Iran are: polymers of ethylene, fruits, rods and profiles of alloy steels
