Bulgaria and Luxembourg are successfully developing trade and economic cooperation

Potential sectors for partnership: ICT, start-up entrepreneurship, finance and financial technology


H.E. Ronald Dofing, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, accredited for Bulgaria based in Brussels, visited BCCI and met with the President Tsvetan Simeonov. The Honorary Consul of the Grand Duchy in Bulgaria - Sasha Bezuhanova, also took part in the meeting.

Tsvetan Simeonov discussed with the guests the level of the economic relations between Bulgaria and Luxembourg. In 2017, exports to Luxembourg amounted to EUR 9.3 million (52.4% increase in comparison to 2016), while imports from Luxembourg amounted to EUR 92.3 million (5.2% increase compared to 2016). The trade balance was negative amounting to EUR -83 million. The trade turnover grew by 8.6% compared to 2016 and added up to EUR 101.6 million.

The President of BCCI provided information about the development of the country’s economy and the conditions for doing business in Bulgaria.

During the meeting it was agreed to organize a joint event in the 2nd half of 2018 in Luxembourg to present Bulgaria’s investment and business potential. Special attention will be given to the following sectors: ICT, finance, financial technology, start-up companies, logistics – multimodal transport, tourism, banking, etc.
