Conference with a focus on the role of art and culture in the development of the Southwest Region





How to develop stable regional partnerships in the spheres of culture and tourism; what are the main challenges and opportunities thereupon, how to implement new cultural routes in the region; to what extent the local authorities in Bulgaria use and apply the methodologies on integrated public policies in the sphere of culture and tourism – these were among the main topics discussed at a conference, dedicated to the role of art and culture in the development of the Southwest Region, which was hosted by “Sofia Princess” Hotel.  This forum is part of the project “Through Effective Partnerships towards Sustainable Development of Sofia”, implemented by Sofia Municipality and funded by Operational Programme “Administrative Capacity”. 
Among the guests of the conference were also representatives of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. 
The debates focused on the role of the cultural and historical inheritance of the Southwest Region and modern art as a motive power to the development of the region through making effective partnerships and joint projects in the context of Sofia’s nomination along with the Southwest Region for a European Capital of Culture.
