Bulgarian and Argentine companies held talks on fostering collaboration within the energy, industrial, and high-tech sectors

A Bulgarian-Argentine Business Forum was held at the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), featuring representatives from leading Argentine companies and organizations in the sectors of energy, metallurgy, nuclear technology, infrastructure, and innovation.

Initiated by the Argentine-Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and the BCCI’s Innovation Council, the event aimed to connect Bulgarian businesses, trade associations, and institutions looking to foster economic ties between the two countries.

The Argentine delegation was headed by Elio Del Re, President of the country’s oldest and most influential business group, the Argentine Association of Metallurgical Industries (ADIMRA). Key representatives from prominent international companies also took part in the delegation.

The Bulgarian side was represented by companies and organizations from the energy and industrial sectors, including Bulatom, the National Electric Company (NEK), Ellatzite-Med, the Bulgarian Gas Association, and other companies interested in developing partnerships with Argentine counterparts.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Vasil Todorov, Vice-President of BCCI, emphasized the vast potential to scale up bilateral economic ties in sectors such as energy, high-tech manufacturing, infrastructure, agriculture, chemicals, innovation, and tourism. He voiced confidence that the trade agreement between the European Union and Mercosur will unlock further opportunities to increase trade turnover and mutual investments.

Dr. Todorov also emphasized the role of the Bulgarian community in Argentina, recalling past success stories of long-standing partnerships between Bulgarian and Argentine companies.

Elio Del Re, on his part, highlighted the importance of this visit as a catalyst for closer cooperation between the Bulgarian and Argentine business communities. He shared that alongside the energy-focused mission in Sofia, a separate Argentine business delegation was attending the BATA AGRO exhibition in Stara Zagora, bringing together companies specializing in agricultural machinery and technology.

Lucrecia Vanni, President of the Argentine-Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce, highlighted the potential to integrate businesses from both nations into common value chains across sectors like agriculture, machinery, IT, and innovation. She noted that the bilateral partnership extends beyond the mere exchange of goods to encompass the transfer of knowledge, technology, and best practices.

The forum focused on specific cooperation opportunities in nuclear and renewable energy, natural gas, metallurgy, and high-tech manufacturing. It served as an ideal platform for networking and mapping out promising directions for future Bulgaria-Argentina economic relations.
