The January Session of the European Economic and Social Committee in Brussels
The January Plenary Session of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) took place on 21st and 22nd January 2014 in Brussels. The session was opened by the report of the EESC President Henri Malosse before the Assembly, in regard to his latest mission in Ukraine.
A statement on the 2014 work program of the European Commission and the elections for the European Parliament was made by the President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso.
The session continued with a discussion and adoption of opinions on the market-based instruments for promoting the transition to an economy of efficient use of the resources and low carbon emissions in the EU. Vice-President of the BCCI Georgi Stoev also took part in the debates.
During the January session of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) in Brussels the negotiations on Serbia’s accession to the EU have started.
