The Japanese Ambassador H.E. Sumi Chikahisa Visited BCCI

Ambassador Sumi Chikahisa, the newly appointed Head of the mission of the Japanese Embassy, visited BCCI and met with its President Tsvetan Simeonov. Himena Kono, Political and Economic Advisor in the Embassy, also participated in the meeting.

Tsvetan Simeonov presented the role and activity of BCCI in the economic life of the country and noted that the Chamber is actively working with the government and social partners as a national representative employer organisation. He emphasised that Japan is a desired economic partner of Bulgaria because of its proactive economic position and the development of science.

The meeting also aimed to present the priorities of Ambassador Chikahisa and to discuss the opportunities for cooperation with the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the direction of achieving more effective economic interaction between both countries.

Ambassador Chikahisa, who has a rich diplomatic history and experience in the International Monetary Fund, shared his view on the bilateral economic relations. The peoples of the two countries have many common features and, despite the difficulties at national and global level, the Diplomat has excellent expectations for successful interaction between Bulgarian and Japanese companies. A number of sectors were discussed as key sectors for the bilateral cooperation such as transport, infrastructure, energy industry, construction, tourism and food & drink industry, among others.

A regular exchange of information was agreed in favour of the companies from the two countries – both potential investors and producers and traders.
