Within the framework of the project "Functionally Sustainable Migration and Integration in Bulgaria" (FUMI), implemented by the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) and the Center for Entrepreneurship and Executive Development – Bulgaria (CEED Bulgaria), a meeting was held with the Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Lusine Kocharyan. The meeting was also attended by H.E. Nikola Nikolov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria to Armenia, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, BCCI, and CEED Bulgaria.
During the meeting, labour market trends, opportunities for developing bilateral cooperation, and perspectives for labour migration were discussed. The objectives of the FUMI project and the online platform www.bgjobsportal.com were presented, which aims to connect Bulgarian employers with job seekers from non-EU countries and to provide reliable information regarding working conditions and integration in Bulgaria.
Deputy Minister Lusine Kocharyan emphasized that in recent years Armenia has gradually been transforming from an exporter to an importer of labour, and expressed readiness for further cooperation and support in promoting the initiative. The need for a broader information campaign and the involvement of licensed recruitment agencies and competent institutions was noted.
The participants highlighted the traditionally good relations between Bulgaria and Armenia, as well as the significance of the Armenian community in Bulgaria for the development of bilateral ties. At the end of the meeting, readiness was reaffirmed to continue cooperation in the field of economic and labour relations, as well as to work jointly on promoting upcoming information initiatives under the project.
