The newly-appointed Commercial Attache of Iraq to Bulgaria visited BCCI
The newly-appointed Commercial Attache at the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Sofia Hikmat Shafi visited BCCI and discussed with the Chamber’s President Tsvetan Simeonov the bilateral economic relations. Iraqi businesses perceive Bulgaria as a gate to Europe, and Iraq can serve as a gate to the Middle East for Bulgarian companies, Hikmat Shafi pointed out. According to him the traditionally strong relations between the two countries are excellent grounds for expanding bilateral trade. Despite the fact that Iraq is going through hardships at the moment there are regions in the country such as the North and far South which are peaceful, the guest explained.
Tsvetan Simeonov presented the economic environment in Bulgaria and elaborated on BCCI’s relations with partner organizations in Iraq. The established Bulgarian representation office in Erbil, North Iraq verifies the interest of Bulgaria and Bulgarian companies to preserve good economic relations with Iraq and the region.
During the meeting possible joint activities of the BCCI and the Commercial Department of the Embassy of Iraq were discussed.
Hikmat Shafi offered support to all Bulgarian companies willing to find business partners and representatives, or to open an office in Iraq.
