BCCI relies on satellite partners for tourism entrepreneurship

Since the beginning of 2011, the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry has been implementing the SAGITTARIUS Project: “Launching local level heritage entrepreneurship: strategies and tools to unite forces, safeguard the place, mobilize cultural values, deliver the experience”.

The SAGITTARIUS Project is developed by 19 national and regional public organizations and NGOs from 8 countries – Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Romania, Slovenia, Croatia and Moldova under the South East Europe Transnational Cooperation Programme.

In accordance with the EU policy for cohesion of regions and countries and improving the quality of life in Europe, the project aims at:
Assisting the development of tourism entrepreneurship, based on historical heritage and culture;
Standardization of professional knowledge and wider inclusion of the young in this segment of tourism;
Development of regions by encouraging the use of cultural and historical sites and development of new economic activities related to tourism.

Within the project, the partners will organize training for young tourist entrepreneurs, an exhibition of tourist companies and exchanges with partners from Italy and Greece, a movie will be made as well. The newest technologies for distance training and certification of participants, a traveling exhibition, online discussions and product quality and adaptability checks will be used.

For wider presentation of the results of the project and to guarantee that the created products are available to all stakeholders, a network of satellite partners will be established in order to stimulate the development of new activities supporting the development of tourism in Southeast Europe in general, and in Bulgaria as a tourist destination in particular.

According to the President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov, the self-confidence of employees from all levels in tourism, is much higher that their actual knowledge and therefore, the quality of their work in hotels and restaurants significantly differs from the quality of work of the leaders and the traditionally good companies in the sector. Every opportunity to improve the qualification and skills of employees should be used, especially when it is easily accessible.
