Discussion of the current economic cooperation with Moldova





H.E. Anatol Cebuc, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Moldova to Bulgaria, and Valeriu Manea, Second Secretary at the Embassy of Moldova in Sofia, visited the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and met with the President of the Chamber Tsvetan Simeonov.

The diplomats presented information about the forthcoming Moldova Trade Forum, organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Moldova, which will take place from 28 April to 30 April 2021. The event is a platform for generating new business contacts between Moldovan producers and foreign retailers, distributors and buyers.

Information on the privatization of a number of state-owned companies in Moldova was provided, working in areas such as: metalworking, road infrastructure maintenance, tourism and hospitality, agricultural machinery and equipment, etc.

The President of BCCI and his guests exchanged views on measures aimed at helping companies during the COVID-19 crisis.

The trade, economic and investment cooperation between the two countries was also reviewed.

According to information of the Ministry of Economy, the positive news is that for the first half of 2020, exports increased by 16.0% (by over USD 5 million) and imports by 12.6% (by about USD 3.2 million). Petroleum oils and oils from bituminous minerals have the main share in exports (21%) and in the cited period increased by 142% to a level of USD 7.8 million, followed by pharmaceuticals and plastic fibers. Sunflower seeds accounted for more than 44% of imports (USD 12.8 million), followed by wires and cables, and ethyl alcohol.
