GOOD³W is a 36-month European project that aims to promote gender equality and social dialogue in the wood industry, a traditionally male-dominated sector facing persistent gender gaps in leadership, pay equity, and work-life balance.
The project addresses these challenges by mobilising social partners (employers and trade unions), SMEs, and policy actors to develop gender-transformative tools and practices that are evidence-based, replicable, and embedded in collective bargaining processes.
Led by CONFAPI (Italy), the consortium brings together key national and EU-level stakeholders: FILLEA-CGIL, CEIBG, PODKREPA CL, and CEI-Bois, representing over 160,000 wood-sector companies across Europe. GOOD³W is built around four strategic objectives:
1. Raise awareness among social partners in the wood industry about gender equality and the benefits of inclusive practices;
2. Identify and share best practices from SMEs across Europe that address gender-based barriers and promote fairness in the workplace;
3. Deliver a transformative learning programme for HR managers, business associations, and trade union representatives, empowering them to negotiate gender-sensitive CBAs;
4. Influence decision-makers at national and EU level through structured advocacy, policy briefs, and dissemination of model clauses.

GOOD³W implements a well-structured work plan through four Work Packages:

1. • WP1: Project coordination and financial management;
2. • WP2: Mapping of gender gaps and collection of SME good practices;
3. • WP3: Design and delivery of a transformative, blended learning programme for social dialogue actors;
4. • WP4: Communication, dissemination, and EU-level advocacy — including a policy hearing at the European Parliament, the release of a Gender Equality Policy Brief, and a final conference with MoU signing for replication in at least 5 additional EU countries.

GOOD³W’s impact goes beyond national borders through the support of EU-level networks such as CEI-Bois, ETUC, CEA-PME, and INSME, ensuring broad dissemination and uptake across at least 15 Member States.
Key project outputs — including the training toolkit, model CBA clauses, and policy brief — will be made openly available and promoted for reuse and replication by other sectors and countries. Two national pilot observatories on gender equality in CBAs (in Italy and Bulgaria) will serve as models for further EU adaptation.
The training programme will be institutionalised in the training catalogues of social partners and proposed for inclusion in future collective agreements.

Project summary

The European Union’s legally binding commitment to climate neutrality by 2050—reinforced by the European Green Deal, the Fit-for-55 package, and REPowerEU—demands an unprecedented transformation of the energy system. At the same time, the digital transition (automation, AI-enabled asset management, smart grids) is reshaping skill requirements and industrial relations. Together these forces form the “twin transition,” creating both opportunity and risk.
The Energise project, led by Fiequimetal with a Europe-wide consortium of trade unions, employer associations, and research institutes—will strengthen collective bargaining and social dialogue so that climate and digital policies translate into just, people-centered outcomes:
1. Evidence-based groundwork: Comparative research across partner countries will map job-transition risks, digital-skill gaps, and best collective-agreement clauses, providing an empirical base for action aligned with Principle 8 of the European Pillar of Social Rights - Using the Knowledge Valorization Platform, in order of creating a valuable information that are relevant both for short term and long-term use.
2. Targeted capacity building: A multilingual Virtual Trainer will be created, open source, available for free online; joint employer-employee academies, and mentoring by Social-Dialogue Consultants. That will equip social partners with negotiation, conflict-resolution, and data-driven foresight tools suited to hydrogen, renewables, and the concept of green transition.
3. Multi-level dialogue architecture: National online events will feed into a two-day EU Social Dialogue Session in Spain, ensuring local realities shape European Social Dialogue Committee work programs and future policy design.
4. Policy and practice leverage: A proposal document: “3 Scenarios for the Twin Transition in the Energy Sector,” will be created, followed by regulatory-impact-assessed policy proposals, and training kits—which will be freely available, scalable, and integrated into Commission initiatives such as the Pact for Skills and the Just Transition Platform.
The planned activities will assure adding value to the EU through:

1. • Direct alignment with EU strategic priorities on climate, digital, and social rights.
2. • Bridging capacity gaps in countries and subsectors where social dialogue is weakest.
3. • Contributing to resilience by anticipating labour-market shocks and preventing social backlash.
4. • Promoting inclusiveness through gender-sensitive materials and youth engagement.

The inclusion of Portugal, Spain, Poland, Bulgaria, and Serbia ensures a geographically and economically balanced consortium representing both Mediterranean and Eastern Europe. Each country brings distinct experiences in energy transition, labour relations, and social dialogue development. Poland and Bulgaria contribute critical insight from coal-dependent economies, while Portugal and Spain offer models of structured dialogue and green innovation. Serbia’s participation aligns with EU enlargement and supports regional convergence with EU labour standards. This diversity enhances the project's relevance, transnational cooperation, and capacity to generate transferable, inclusive solutions across different EU and pre-accession contexts.
By enabling workers and employers to co-create solutions, Energise transforms the twin transition from a challenge into a catalyst for sustainable, high-quality jobs—thereby strengthening Europe’s path toward a competitive, climate-neutral, and socially just future.

Description

The project addresses the critical need for active worker participation in the implementation of the European Green Deal, ensuring that employees have a voice in decisions that affect their working conditions, job security and rights.

The Greener Deal project strengthens worker participation mechanisms by providing employees and employers with knowledge, tools and platforms for structured dialogue to improve participation in the green transition at work. The project includes research, toolkit, e-learning platform, training of trainers programme.

The main aim of the project is to promote “green entrepreneurship”, improve the competitiveness of SMEs and increase their capacity in relation to digital transformation and transition to green economy.
Among the main activities to be implemented within the scope of the project are:

• Conducting research and need analysis of SMEs in relation to the transition to “green economy” and digital transformation
• Development of an online platform with information materials for the main target groups – chambers of commerce, SMEs, investors, entrepreneurs
• Preparing guidelines for transition to green economy, digital transformation and international trade
• Organisation of training for increasing knowledge of SMEs on topics related to the Green Deal and digitalisation
• Exchange of experience and good practices through organisation of study visits and business meetings.

The main aim of the project is to establish green deal guidance and consultancy centers in order to assist SMEs to navigate the challenges and leverage the opportunities presented by the European Green Deal (EGD).
Among the main activities to be implemented within the scope of the project are:

• Conducting a need and competency analysis of SMEs in relation to the transition to “green economy”
• Organisation of training for raising awareness of SMEs on topics related to the Green Deal
• Development of an online platform with information materials for SMEs on the topic
• Organisation of international conference and B2B meetings dedicated to “green economy”.
