The President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov had an online meeting with H.E. Thabo Thage, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Africa in Sofia.
During the meeting, the current state of the commercial and economic relations between the two countries was discussed. It was agreed to exchange business delegations at a later stage next year when the opportunity arises upon lifting of the additional restrictions currently existing worldwide due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to the Ministry of Economy, for the first six months of 2020 exports from Bulgaria reached USD 59.7 million, which is a decrease of 20% compared to the same period last year. Imports from the Republic of South Africa amounted to USD 16 million, which is 56.6% lower compared to the same period in 2019. Trade turnover between the two countries amounted to USD 75.7 million, which is a decrease of 32% compared to the first six months of 2019.
