BULGARIAN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY |
The National Art Gallery in Sofia intends to show an exhibition which aim is to present the evolution of the portrait in the period of Bulgarian Revival and to evoke the memory of those people who facilitated the revival of cultural and economic life in Bulgaria during the 19c. in the social conditions of the Turkish domination.
The exhibition comprises about 100 portraits (oil on the canvas) selected from the collections of the NAG and the Regional Art Galleries in Bulgaria. A "Corpus of the Revival portrait in Bulgaria" will be edited, include whole portraits which are in these collections (near 180), the reproductions of the each portrait, information (texts) for the publishing works of art, biographical data for each person and bibliography. Introduction is prepared from the curator of the exhibition and the author of the "Corpus" Ph.D. Blagovesta Ivanova-Tsotsova who make comparison research with the same stage of the evolution of the portrait in the countries in Central, East Europe and the Balkans.
