Sri Lankan and Bulgarian Businessmen Meet in Colombo for new Business Opportunities

Sri Lanka Bulgaria Business Forum as organized by the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL) was held on Sunday morning (November 01) in Colombo.

While the Bulgarian Business Delegation led by Bulgaria’s Economy, Energy and Tourism Minister Traicho Traikov, Sri Lanka’s Export Development and International Trade Minister Prof. G.L Peiris participated at the Business Forum representing the Sri Lankan Government.

Making a new era for the Sri Lankan and Bulgarian trade relationships, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) and the FCCISL.
BCCI’s President Tsvetan Simeonov and the FCCISL President Kosala Wickramanayake signed the agreement intensifying interaction and cooperation among the two chambers as well among the business communities of two countries.

Board of Investment of Sri Lanka (BOI), Export Development Board (EDB), the Tourism Promotion Bureau of Sri Lanka and several other trade sectors had joined with the FCCISL to have one to one interaction between the Bulgarian and Sri Lankan business personnel.

Export Development and International Trade Minister Prof. G.L Peiris explained to the Bulgarian Business delegation why they should invest in Sri Lanka. He said that the Bulgarian Business Delegation has come to Sri Lanka at the right time, as it has defeated terrorism from the country which was most threatening obstacle for the country’s economy. He also spoke on the BOI assistance for new businesses, Free trade Agreements with India and Pakistan and how those agreements improved the trade sector.

Bulgaria ’s Economy, Energy and Tourism Minister Traicho Traikov also made a presentation over the currents aspects of Development of the Bulgarian economy and economic opportunities in Bulgaria.

FCCISL’s International Affairs Head Hildon Hamangoda and few others also addressed the gathering before the one to one interaction was held.
