  SOFIA, March 13 (Xinhua) -- The fourth edition of the specialized trade exhibition for Bulgarian producers "Trust in the Bulgarian" kicked off here on Friday in the National Palace of Culture.

  More than 80 companies came to participate in the 10-day event, offering typical local products from various locations in the Balkan country such as honey, wine, rose and herb cosmetics, meat food, textiles, and hand-made household items.

  Georgi Stoev, Vice President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the event's organizer, said at the opening ceremony that its purpose was to gather together Bulgarian producers, consumers and trading partners, and provide feedback on product quality and market potential.

  According to him, visitors can see many products in the field of cosmetics, food industry, leather industry and winemaking, which, by their quality, can occupy a worthy place on the Bulgarian market.

  Unfortunately, in these sectors the share of Bulgarian goods on the market in the country was less than 30 percent because the high-quality Bulgarian goods were sometimes more expensive than imported goods, Stoev said.

  When there is a financial crisis, consumers sometimes sought out cheaper alternatives, he added.
