BCCI and the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry signed Cooperation Agreement



BCCI signed cooperation agreement with the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry during the first session of the Bulgarian – Pakistani Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation in Sofia. The document was signed by the President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov and Omar Hamid Khan, Deputy Secretary of the Department of Economic Affairs in the Ministry of Finance, Revenue, Economic Affairs, Statistics and Privatization of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. This agreement alongside the memorandums of understanding signed between Bulgaria and Pakistan in the field of SMEs and the partnership agreement between the agricultural universities in Plovdiv and Faisalabad will expand the contractual and legal framework necessary to enhance the bilateral cooperation and will provide suitable conditions for starting a business between the two countries. “We have laid solid foundations for future dialogue and mutual partnership,” the Deputy Minister of Economy Lyuben Petrov said.
 
The first session of the Bulgarian – Pakistani Intergovernmental Commission discussed a wide range of topics and questions in the field of trade, industry, investment, agriculture, ITC, transport, tourism, culture, etc. Within the two-day working session a bilateral business forum was held and a post card on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the bilateral diplomatic relations was approved.
Omar Hamid Khan stressed the need to develop an action plan for cooperation between the two countries. According to him the main sectors of mutual interest which were identified include metallurgy, energy, food industry, ICT.
 
BCCI expressed readiness to assist Bulgarian and Pakistani businesses.
