Final International MILD HOME Project Conference

Prospects and challenges for sustainable urban development, innovative urban and architectural patters were presented
City planners, ecologists, journalists, representatives of the Government, the local authorities and the NGOs, as well as business representatives, including investors were familiarized with the results and main solutions achieved during the eco village MILD HOME Project, presented at the final international project conference in Sofia. BCCI is one of the project partners together with Sofia Municipality, the European Labour Institute and partner organizations from 6 countries (Italy, Romania, Austria, Hungary, Greece and Serbia). Leading partner is the Regional Union of Veneto’s Chambers of Commerce, Italy.
 
The President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov opened the conference and pointed out the importance of the project for the sustainable development as it focuses not only on modern technologies and materials, but on energy efficiency and eco-friendliness.
 
Among the other lectors were representatives of the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works, the Bulgarian Sustainable Development Council, the Municipal Energy Efficiency Network EcoEnergy and project partners. Special attention was paid to hot topics such as the sustainable energy action plan of the Mayors’ Pact, the new transnational cooperation programmes and future opportunities for sustainable urban development. 
 
Sofia Municipality confirmed that everything possible will be done to really build an eco green village in Bulgaria and that it is important for people to understand what the specificities and obligations of residents are when using such kind of civil building. 
During the second part of the conference an exhibition of the awarded projects in Bulgaria during the national competition for architectural proposals held earlier this year was opened. The projects provoked a discussion of the challenges and perspectives for constructing an ego green village.
