BCCI participated in a conference held in Budapest on prospects for the development and use of natural gas in the Danube Region





Representatives of chambers of commerce and industry in the region introduced the views of business on the local energy market
 
BCCI’s Secretary General Vassil Todorov, attended a conference entitled “Development and Use of Natural Gas in the Danube Region: Prospects and Opportunities”, held in Budapest, Hungary. Organizers of the event were the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Danube Energy Forum.
 
The event was opened by the President of the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Dr. László Parragh. Official position on the subject was voiced by the Serbian Minister of Energy Aleksandar Antic, Russia’s Deputy Energy Minister Anatoly Janovsky and Deputy Minister of Economy and Energy of Bulgaria Anton Pavlov.
 
Representatives of chambers of commerce and industry in the region introduced the views of business on the local energy market and on benefits to businesses. 
 
Vassil Todorov outlined the state of the Bulgarian energy market, emphasizing on the newly established Energy Board. The main objectives of the Board where the Chamber is represented by Nikolay Minkov – CEO of “Srednogorie Med Industrial Cluster”, are transparency, low costs and diversification of the energy market.
 
The conference also examined the infrastructural development of Central and Southeast Europe, as well as the natural gas market and the prospects for its development. Representatives of several energy companies voiced their opinion on the “South Stream” issue. Attention was drawn to the need for increased cooperation between the countries of this region to achieve diversification of supplies.
