The Ambassador of Japan, representatives of the business circles and friends of Japan attended the presentation of the book

With the support of the Tokai University Alumni Association, in the premises of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the presentation of the new book by the renowned archaeologist Prof. Diana Gergova entitled “The Getae and the Golden Treasures. The World of the Ancient Bulgarian-Thracians” was held. The book, based on discoveries from long archaeological expeditions, involving researchers from the Land of the Rising Sun, is published first in Japanese thanks to the translation of Dr. Sentomo and Dr. Tao, and is soon expected to be available in Bulgarian as well.

The presentation of the book was attended by many representatives of the business, Bulgarian archaeologists, diplomats, alumni of the Tokai University, friends of Bulgaria and Japan.

The event was opened by Tsvetan Simeonov, President of BCCI, who expressed his gratitude for the excellent relations between the two countries and emphasized the power of communication through culture as one of the most important means of friendship between peoples. He reminded that one of the most modern museums of the Thracian heritage in Bulgaria – the one in the Eastern Rhodopes, in the village of Aleksandrovo, was built with the donation of the Japanese government.

H.E. Masato Watanabe, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan in Bulgaria described 2018 as more than positive for the bilateral relations, stressing not only the diplomatic efforts and successes during the current Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU, but also the recent first visit in Bulgaria of H.E. Shinzo Abe, during which the Prime Minister of Japan also met with the President of BCCI.

In her presentation, Prof. Gergova revealed much of the history of the artifacts and the spiritual life of the Getae who inhabited the Bulgarian lands thousands of years ago.
