International Forum 16+1 – China and Central and Eastern Europe

In Podgorica, Montenegro, the latest international forum with the participation of the mayors and representatives of chambers of commerce of the capitals of China and 16 Central and Eastern European countries took place. The event was part of the “One belt – One road” initiative, which aims to strengthen the economic ties between China and the countries along the “Silk road”.

The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry was represented at the forum by the Secretary General of the Chamber – Vasil Todorov. BCCI took part in the event as it is engaged in the service of the business in the regions of Sofia-city and Sofia region.

In the opening panel, the Prime Minister of Montenegro Duško Marković, and the symbolic hosts of the event – the mayors of Podgorica and Beijing welcomed the participants. The main focus of the speeches was on the development of industries which could increase mutual trade between China and the Central and Eastern European Countries, such as infrastructure development, agriculture, trade, technology transfer, environmental protection.

During the forum, the representatives of the chambers of commerce discussed a mechanism for cooperation and initiatives to facilitate business cooperation between European countries and China.
