The newly-appointed Ambassador of Japan visited BCCI



H.E. Masato Watanabe has been in Sofia for only a week and has chosen to visit the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for one of his first meetings with Bulgarian partners. He discussed with the Chamber’s President Tsvetan Simeonov and Vice-President Georgi Stoev opportunities for cooperation.

The President introduced Ambassador Watanabe to the activities of BCCI and its extremely active interaction with the Embassy of Japan in Sofia and partners from Japan. Among them are the Japanese Chamber of Commerce, the Japan External Trade Organization – JETRO, the chambers of commerce in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, the Osaka Foreign Trade Institute, the Japan Business Federation - KEIDANREN, the Japan Commercial Arbitration Association, etc.

Georgi Stoev, as representative of the management of the Bulgarian – Japanese Economic Council and  the Association of Overseas Training Scholarships - Japan (AOTS) in Bulgaria, reviewed the cooperation with the Japanese partners. He also drew attention to the active Japanese companies which have chosen Bulgaria as an investment destination and continue to create new jobs, following the example of Yazaki Corporation.

H.E. Ambassador Watanabe informed about the Embassy’s initiatives by the end of 2017, including a lecture of a Japanese professor of economics to be held on 24 October in Sofia, dedicated to the opportunities provided by the Economic Partnership Agreement between the EU and Japan. The event is organized with the assistance of BCCI. A visit of representatives of the Japanese Personal Information Protection Commission is also envisaged to take place together with meetings in Sofia. The traditional days of Japanese culture will also take place in October. BCCI agreed to disseminate additional information about the events.
