Business delegation organized by BCCI paid a business visit to Israel





A business delegation organized by BCCI and led by the Chamber’s President Tsvetan Simeonov visited Israel in the period 12 – 14 September.

The delegation included business representatives from the sectors: water supply and sewerage services, engineering services, production of water treatment chemicals.

The Bulgarian delegation took part in the official opening of the Israeli water technology and environmental control event “WATEC 2017” in Tel Aviv and had meetings with companies operating in the field of wastewater treatment and reuse, drip irrigation, etc.

At a working meeting at the Federation of Israeli Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the President of BCCI discussed with his counterpart Uriel Lynn the opportunities for development of trade and economic relations between Bulgarian and Israel. According to Mr. Lynn, Bulgarian exports to Israel need to be promoted. He emphasized the Federation’s readiness to cooperate with any Bulgarian company which is interested in developing contacts with Israeli partners. The cooperation of the two organizations on a multilateral basis, within the framework of their membership in the Association of European Chambers of Commerce and Industry (EUROCHAMBRES) and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC – Paris), was discussed.

The President of BCCI presented the Chamber’s achievements in the digitalization of its Arbitration Court and BCCI’s accreditation from ICC for issuance of non-preferential certificates of origin. The main advantages of Bulgarian economy were presented, including the country’s tax system.

Food industry and ICT were identified as potential sectors of mutual interest.

Representatives of the business, the Honorary Consul of Bulgaria in Israel Moni Leon Barr, the Commercial Counsellor at the Embassy Kamen Minkov, and the Deputy-President of the Israeli-Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce Ilia Bakalov also took part the meeting.

The Bulgarian delegation visited companies in the cities Rishon LeZion and Beer-Sheva and got acquainted to the achievements of the Israeli companies Shafdan and Netafim in the field of wastewater treatment and reuse, and the latest technologies in drip irrigation.

The delegation also had a meeting in the Municipality of Rishon LeZion with Michael Raif, member of the Municipal Council in charge of the foreign economic relations, and the company directly responsible for the municipality’s water supply and sanitation. A lively discussion took place, analysing the similarities and differences in the implementation of water supply and sanitation of the municipalities in Bulgaria and Israel.
