BCCI participates in a meeting of the Chambers of Commerce of the CEI Member States

Hosted by the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, Vienna

On 12th September, the President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov took part in a Meeting of the Presidents of the Economic Chambers of the Member States of the Central European Initiative (CEI), hosted by the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKO), Vienna.

The meeting was opened by Dr. Christoph Leitl, President of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber and the Austrian diplomat Margot Klestil-Löffler. In the focus of discussion were proposals for active dialogue between the chambers of commerce in the region and intensifying the cooperation for implementation of joint projects. In 2017 the traditional meeting will be hosted by Belarus.

Tsvetan Simeonov also attended the European Economic Danube Forum in the Hofburg Imperial Palace, organized by the partnership of the SENATE OF ECONOMY (SENAT DER WIRSHAFT) Austria and SECI (South Eastern European Cooperative Initiative). The theme of the forum was “Ecology & Economics”.

The President of BCCI and Bulgarian business representatives took part in B2B meetings in Vienna for suppliers and users of logistics solutions for the automotive and food industries. The event was part of the 6th Danube Region Conference. Among the main topics discussed were the current developments and challenges along Europe’s transport routes, focussing on border controls, waiting times within the EU and intermodal traffic in the Danube region. Financial matters (subsidies and taxes) and infrastructure projects were also discussed.

During the forum in Vienna, the President of BCCI had a meeting with the Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry - Vladimir Ulakhovich, who assurred him that the Belarusian Chamber will provide full assitance for the organization of a Belarusian – Bulgarian Business Forum in Minsk in early November this year.

Tsvetan Simeonov also participated in a number of meetings, including with representatives of the companies QI Biotech Limited (China), CVA Group (Austria).

The advantages of Austria as a place for investment were the focus of Tsvetan Simeonov’s meeting with Birgit Reiter-Braunwieser, Director CEE of ABA-Invest in Austria, the national investment promotion agency with the Austrian Ministry of Economy. The agency provides foreign companies with information on the conditions for doing business in Austria and helps them set up business operations in the country. It was agreed that BCCI will research the interest of its members to invest in Austria.
