"Zebra" AR is the oldest and one of the biggest rubber manufacturer in Bulgaria. It was establisher in October 1929 as a small share-holding company for production of over shoes and other small rubber articles. Later the small factory was extended to become powerful production company, located on an area of 150 decares with a built up area of 20-30 decares. Now the annual turnover of Zebra is 13 million BGN and 90% of the output is for export.

There are four main groups of products:

1. V-belts, with "know haw" and equipment, provided by Gates-the inventor of V-belts.
2. Floor covering and vulcanised rubber sheets, the so called lamellas for punching of various gaskets.
3. Protection means-the basic products made in the factory until 1990, because "Zebra" AD was specialized in providing the army with protection means-gas masks, filters, landing life jackets, protective clothes, water containers, etc. All kinds of protection means for the "civil defence" and for industrial application are manufactured in our company.

Rubber-metal products- super-elastic and press on solid tires for forklift trucks, rubber-coated shafts and other rubber-metal products for various sectors of industry.

One of the latest products, designed in "Zebra" AD are rubber dicks for weightlifting - in different colours and sizes.

The staff in "Zebra" is 400 employees.

There are two Joint ventures:

• The first one, established in 1996-with the Italian company S.I.S.A.S., Perugia for production of horizontal rubber road marks has employed 100 people. The complete output of the Joint venture is destined for export.
• In November 2001 the second Joint ventures started work - it is with the German company Kraiburg for production of precured heavy treads for retreading of heavy motor vehicle tires with staff of 90 persons.
• From 1995 till now the staff of the company has not been cut off at all. On the contrary 20-30 people were additionally employed.

On the 2 of April 1999" Zebra" AD was privatised by the Managers and employees Buying organization.

Now "Zebra" AD is able to fulfil the orders in time, our quality is acceptable on the international market.

"Zebra" AD is the only manufacturer in Bulgaria of 98% of its products. Within the region it is the only manufacturer of gas masks and V-belts.

The produced in "Zebra" AD articles are exported in USA, Austria, Germany, Finland, Norway, Spain, Greece, Macedonia, Belarus, Russia, Turkey etc.
